摘要
Most entrepreneurs are middle-aged and married, yet entrepreneurship is rarely studied as a joint household problem. Using Danish administrative data, we provide causal evidence that marriage increases the likelihood of entry into transformative entrepreneurship – firms that hire high-tech workers and drive innovation-led growth. We identify spousal skill complementarity – distinct skills that, when combined, are closer to the skill profile of transformative entrepreneurs – as a novel mechanism underlying this effect and improving firm performance. A stylized model formalizes how couples' joint occupational choices depend on their skill complementarity. Our results highlight the importance of household skill composition for entrepreneurial outcomes and suggest that demographic trends in marriage and the skill composition of couples may have macroeconomic implications for entrepreneurship.

欧启聪，山东大学beat365正版唯一官网助理研究员。2023年在美国马里兰大学获得经济学博士学位，主攻宏观经济学领域。曾任香港理工大学会计及金融学院研究助理教授。研究方向聚焦于家庭经济学、不平等问题、货币政策，国际金融以及创新与经济增长等方向。
